Interview Video Production at Hotel Britomart, Featuring Clinton Farley

Hotel Britomart is already one of Auckland's most recognised names in sustainable hospitality. So when Grow Tourism NZ and Tourism Industry Aotearoa needed a location to film the next instalment of the Akiaki Sustainability Training Series, it was an obvious fit.
Vantirra was brought in to handle the video production on location at Hotel Britomart, with Hugo Chan behind the camera for a session that went well beyond surface-level sustainability talking points.
The Akiaki Sustainability Training Series
Akiaki is a free online training programme developed by Grow Tourism and Tourism Industry Aotearoa, built for anyone working in New Zealand's tourism and hospitality sectors - from frontline team members through to managers and business owners. Each module draws on real-world examples from across the industry, giving learners practical knowledge they can apply directly to their own organisations.
This instalment focused on sustainable operations and culture inside a working hotel - the kind of behind-the-scenes detail that shows sustainability can be more than a policy document. It can be embedded into every layer of how a business actually runs.
The Subject: Clinton Farley, General Manager of Hotel Britomart
Clinton Farley has spent nearly three decades in hotels, resorts, and luxury lodges across New Zealand and internationally. As General Manager of Hotel Britomart, he leads a property that holds the distinction of being the world's first five-star Toitu carbonzero certified hotel - a genuine benchmark in sustainable hospitality, not just in New Zealand but globally.
For this module, Clinton shared the practical measures Hotel Britomart has embedded across its operations - the actions and innovations that sit behind the brand, and the culture that makes sustainability a living part of how the hotel works day to day. It's the kind of honest, specific knowledge that a training module needs to actually be useful.
The Production
Hugo Chan managed the full on-location setup at Hotel Britomart, handling camera, lighting, and audio to create a clean, professional interview environment within the hotel's interior spaces. The natural warmth and character of the building meant the environment worked in our favour - no artificial backdrop needed, just good light, good framing, and a subject who knew exactly what he was talking about.
The goal with any interview shoot like this is to capture someone at their most natural and credible. Clinton's ease on camera, combined with the depth of what he had to share, made for a video that feels as good as it looks.
