TRENZ 2024 - Event Coverage for Grow Tourism at Takina Wellington

In May 2024, Vantirra travelled from Auckland to Wellington to provide professional event photography and videography at TRENZ 2024 - New Zealand's largest international tourism business event. Working on behalf of Grow Tourism NZ, our role was to capture speakers, sessions, and key moments from across the programme, producing content that could be used across Grow Tourism's platforms and learning resources.

What is TRENZ?

TRENZ is New Zealand's premier international tourism trade event, held annually and managed by Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA). In 2024, TRENZ was held at Takina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre for the first time, running from 8 to 10 May under the theme of "Transformative Tourism."

The event brought together more than 1,500 delegates from across New Zealand and around the world - connecting tourism operators with international buyers, media, and industry leaders in one of the most significant gatherings the sector produces each year. For anyone working in New Zealand tourism, TRENZ is where the conversations that shape the industry happen.

Our Role at TRENZ 2024

Vantirra was on the ground throughout the three-day event, covering a range of speakers and sessions from the TRENZ programme. Working for Grow Tourism, we documented key presentations and panel discussions, producing professional footage and photography that captured the ideas, expertise, and energy flowing through the event.

The material was designed to support Grow Tourism's ongoing content and learning initiatives - giving New Zealand's tourism workforce access to insights from the event even if they weren't in the room. That's exactly the kind of content that conference videography makes possible: extending the reach of an event well beyond the venue and the delegate list.

Filming at Takina Wellington

Takina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre opened in 2023 and has quickly established itself as one of New Zealand's leading event venues. Its scale and layout made TRENZ 2024 a multi-room, multi-session production - the kind of environment that requires a clear plan, fast movement between spaces, and the ability to set up and break down quickly without disrupting proceedings.

Conference and event videography at this scale is very different from a single-room shoot. Speaker lighting varies between rooms, sessions run back-to-back, and the priority is always capturing the content cleanly without getting in the way of the event itself.
