7,300 Days Together
Twenty Years, Photographed by Chi
Still Holding Hands
Twenty years, or 7,300 days, as their little chalkboard put it. This couple wanted to mark the milestone the way they have spent most of those days: together, outdoors, and not taking themselves too seriously.
Their son joined for the first photos, kissed on both cheeks and holding the sign. Then it was just the two of them, with a bunch of dried flowers, from an ivy wall to the harbour with the city behind them, old stone steps, quiet bush paths and a paddock full of sheep.
Chi photographed this one. She kept it light and unhurried: a lift off the ground, a hide and seek around a tree, a forehead kiss on a forest path, and a lot of laughing in between.
After twenty years, they still hold hands without thinking about it. That was the photo we were really after.
