Maternity in Bloom

Lucas and Elisa came to New Zealand from Brazil, and by spring 2022 they had only a few months left before heading home. They also had a baby girl on the way.

Before they left, they wanted something to take back with them: Auckland in spring, the two of them, and the months they spent waiting for her.

We spent the afternoon at Auckland Botanic Gardens. Elisa in white under the cherry blossom, a pair of tiny pink shoes, the scan photo held up to the camera, and plenty of laughing in between. The red maples, the wooden walkways and the deep green of the gardens did the rest.

These photos travel home to Brazil with them now, a reminder of the place where they waited for their daughter.
